Long Term Effects of Alcoholism
The Severe Long Term effects of alcohol Can Ruin Your Life Forever
People who get addicted to alcohol generally face the phase called alcoholism. It is that phase in which a person does not have the choice to drink or not; he/she is just addicted to it. Surveys have revealed that there are a number of problems related to it. A person not only suffers from the short-time effects but there are long term effects of drink too that is far more devastating. People who become addicted to drink are not able to see the negative effects of it but however, the facts remain the same, no matter whether anyone believes them or not.
Many people who start drinking think that is good for health. Yes, some reports do say so but have you cared to look at the quantity of drink that is prescribed for good health? There is always a limit on the intake of alcohol to make its useful for the human body. Beyond that set limit, it affects the body in a number of ways. Some of the effects that a normal person is aware of are headache, nausea, vomiting, and loss of consciousness for some time, hangovers, loss of muscle control and disorientation etc. However, drink does have some major long term effects on the human body.
The first thing that is related to alcohol is cancer. It has been found that people addicted to drink are more prone to cancer. It could be cancer of the throat, liver, lips, mouth and oesophagus. As everybody knows that cancer is not a 100% curable disease, so alcoholism can cause you to have a shorter life too. Secondly, it causes a number of heart diseases and people get high blood pressure or suffer from nervousness. Besides that, sometime people suffer from irregular pulse or an enlarged heart or even changes in the blood cells when you have an addiction.
It also affects one’s nervous system in the long run. It has a direct effect on the brain of the concerned person. A person addicted to drink has more chances of getting a stroke than any other ordinary person. It affects the brain development too. One can also face psychological effects in the long term such as craving and irritability.
The most important thing that should be kept in mind by the people indulged in intense drinking should understand that it also affects the reproductive system of a person. Be it a man or woman, excessive intake not only disturbs the digestive system, metabolism but also the reproductive system as well. In men, it causes deterioration in the production of sperms and females have to face gynecological problems. So, better be safe then spoil your entire life.
Lastly, the long term effects depend on the blood alcohol level in a person, which is nothing but the amount of liquor in the blood. As it increases, it causes problems and the intensity of the diseases increase with the increased amount. So, even if you love to enjoy parties by opening the bottles of champagne, keep in mind to have a control over it. Do not let drink take your control; otherwise you too may suffer from the long-term effects of alcoholism.
